February Athlete of the Month

By: 0

The February Athlete of the Month is Scott Gaskill! Scott has been a positive energy at the 9am class (even when he is the only one). He has made huge progress in refining his movement since he started with us. He is always a delight to talk to and has great insights. Read further to learn a little bit more about Scott!

How long have you been at Willow Creek CrossFit and what made you want to join?

I started coming to Willow Creek CrossFit in May of 2017 and have been going strong ever since.

How is your life different after being a member at Willow Creek CrossFit?

Well, aside from getting stronger, I think I have been more of a joy to be around at home. Staying active through the winter months has been especially helpful as I’ve completely avoided season onset depression thus far!

Whats your favorite part about the gym or a favorite moment?

My favorite moment was one day when Logan had my friend Brad and I sprint on exercise bikes for a minute and then try to do box jumps after. I yelled some obscenities because I had never experienced my body shutting down like that ever before. My legs almost completely locked up on me.

What’s your spirit animal?

I’m not even sure what this means. LOL. If I was an animal, I’d want to be at the top of the food chain. Something like a lion.

What are your interests outside of work and the gym?

Outside of work and the gym most of my time is spent with my family. My wife, Emily, and I have 3 kids that keep us pretty busy. Lately, you could find our family playing a lot of Mario Kart on our Nintendo Switch or playing a board game like Harry Potter Battle of Hogwarts. I am also a wicked big Boston Red Sox fan.

What has been your favorite workout/movement?

Honestly, I have enjoyed learning to do the olympic lifts even though I’m not that great at them just yet.

Give us an interesting fact that we don’t already know about you.

One thing that most people at the gym probably don’t know about me is that I am a church planter and our church, Harvest City, is launching public services on March 4!

Thank you Scott!!
